Rim and Tire Manufacturing

A tire is the ring shaped cover that is fitted around the rim of a wheel to enable better performance and provide safety of the inner rim. Usually tires are designed in a way that they provide traction between the road and the vehicle. They also provide cushioning effect that absorbs shocks sustained by vehicle while moving. Modern tires are pneumatic tires because they use air for strength and cushioning. They are made by combining a mixture of materials. These materials include rubber, metal wires and carbon black to name a few. They comprise of a body and a tread. The body provides space for storing compressed air while the tread provides traction with the outside surface. Early tires were made of wood with metal covering. After that solid rubber tires appeared. Still metal tires are used on train locomotives and coaches. The outer edge of the wheel that holds the tire is termed as tire. It comprises the outer circular part of the wheel. A normal tire is made from sheet metal steel. A plate is bent to form a cylindrical sleeve. It is spun to obtain certain thickness of the sleeve. It is then shaped to produce outer seat for the tire to hold onto. The cylindrical structure is supported by a structure in middle. It is made by shaping a metal plate. It contains holes for attachment to hub of the wheel. These days’ one piece rims are also manufactured by casting or forging techniques.
The tires and rims function together to work as a wheel moving a vehicle forward. They constitute an important component of the car. They are also very important regarding the safety of the vehicle. To ensure the safety of vehicles, stringent measures are taken in the development and production of vehicle tire and rims. Strict testing is carried out to ensure that they can last any hostile scenario. These days, companies make specialized tires for all special requirements such as driving in snow or off-road use. Tires and rims of good quality can cost a fortune. Many solutions have been devised to overcome this discrepancy. A very important procedure which can eliminate or reduce the impact of high initial cost of good quality tires and rims is financing. This financing works just like the car or home financing. A monetary organization pays the bill of the product and charges us over a period of time. As good quality products have a much greater warranty period and service life. Over this time period, the financing solution in fact saves money and resources in the longer run of things.
